Some of you may have heard the story from Evan at the service about the “Woot Monkey” that Jared and his coworkers attached a magnet to in order to try to attach it to the air conditioning duct in the ceiling. What Evan did not mention is that this monkey “screams” every time it hits something – so I can imagine it screeching each time it attached to the ceiling and each time it came back down to land on the floor.

Jared and I also have a “screaming monkey” that we received from my parents for Christmas one year; it normally lived in the toy closet. One night when I went to bed after Jared was asleep, I pulled back the covers and there it was, right where I would normally land (when Jared was in bed but still awake, I would run down the hall and leap in to bed, just to make sure he knew I was there!). I thought “Haha, you didn’t get me” and placed it on the foot of the bed. I then climbed in and fell asleep.

Halfway through the night, I wake up to the monkey screaming. I said “What the…” and then realized that I must have kicked it off the bed. I heard a snicker from the other side of the bed – apparently it woke Jared up, too.
